Alaska governor talks Trump victory, energy needs in state
ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - Less than a day after Donald Trump‘s triumphant return to the White House, Alaska Gov. Mike Dunleavy left open the chance of joining the new administration.
In a live interview with Alaska’s News Source evening anchor Rebecca Palsha on Wednesday, Dunleavy was asked if the Trump team had reached out to him about a possible position within the incoming administration.
“There’s always that possibility,” Dunleavy said. “I’m more than happy to have a discussion with the President about anything, as long as it can move Alaska forward.”
Dunleavy said his excitement in seeing Trump reelected stems from his talks with him in the past about resource development within the state, notably oil and natural gas on Alaska’s North Slope and opening the Tongass National Forest to logging and tourism.
In an additional sit-down interview with Alaska’s News Source political reporter Steve Kirch, Dunleavy discussed the electoral win, his own election night experience, what Trump’s victory means to Alaska and the state’s energy resource needs, and how his role as governor might change in the future.
