ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - A strong storm system is moving through Southeast Alaska on Wednesday, bringing high winds and heavy rain in places.

A high wind warning is in place for the Ketchikan Gateway Borough and Prince of Wales Island with wind gusts expected to 60 mph. Local storm reports have shown winds to 81 mph in Hydaburg and 75 mph in Metlakatla.

Heavy rain is expected around Ketchikan and Petersburg with more than 2.5 inches of rain expected as this storm moves through.

The rest of the state is fairly quiet for Wednesday but a slight shift in the jet stream is going to guide warmth into the Interior and northern areas of the state. Fairbanks is expected to see temperatures near 32 degrees by the end of the weekend.
