ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - After a quick recovery at the Alaska SeaLife Center, Phantom, a northern Sea Otter, was released back into Resurrection Bay. Phantom the Otter was brought to the Alaska Sealife Center with “significant facial trauma.” He was first reported in the Seward Small Boat Harbor but managed to give rescuers the slip.

“There’s a reason that his name is Phantom, because every single time we tried going out looking for him, he would disappear on us,” said Savannah Costner, Animal Care Specialist with the Alaska SeaLife Center.

According to the Alaska SeaLife Center’s Instagram account, Phantom’s rapid healing impressed their team. They also said he was fitted with red and green flipper tags. The Alaska SeaLife Center would like to know if you spot Phantom when you’re near Seward.
