ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - The 90th annual Fur Rendezvous Festival kicked off Thursday around Anchorage and is expected to feature its traditional late-winter celebration, despite a winter season marred by low snowfall.

The festival, which is centered around downtown but also features events around Anchorage, runs through March 2 this year.

The Rondy Melodrama is also returning for a 34th year. Organizers have labeled it as a spin “back in time” as the story follows a villain who attempts to steal a “prized gold nugget” in a small-town inn.
