ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - The 53rd running of the Iditarod is just over 40 days away, and the Iron Dog is even sooner.

Conditions have been tough, however, as warm temperatures forced the postponement of the annual Kuskokwim 300 dog sled race on Thursday.

There’s still significant time before we know what the weather will be like during the Iditarod in March, but the weather along the trail today will impact the conditions teams experience in the coming months.

Here’s a breakdown of the conditions currently being seen along the trail.
