Murkowski says Interior Alaska visit to include updates on missile defense, veterans healthcare & Ukrainian community
FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTUU/KTVF) - Sen. Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska, told Fairbanks reporters Wednesday her Interior visit would include updates on the state’s missile defense system, veterans health care, and what’s happening with Ukrainians in Alaska who moved to the state following the start of the war with Russia.
“[We’re going to] go up and see the proposal for the Veterans Cemetery, [Thursday] is Greely and Delta,” Murkowski said. “Get a little bit of an update on what is happening with our missile defense system, as well as some of the health care issues and meeting with some in the Ukrainian community. As we know, there’s a there’s a strong number of Ukrainian families who have been here since the war began, and a lot of anxiety within those good people about what their future may hold.”
The comments came after the senator updated constituents on work being done in Washington D.C. during a luncheon in Fairbanks.
While in Alaska, Murkowski said she has also been meeting with business leaders, including the Fairbanks Native Association.
Murkowski also spoke about manufacturing at Pan Alaska.
