Vigil held for missing Eagle River man Tony Kronos
ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - A vigil was held for Tony Kronos in his home community of Eagle River on Friday night.
Kronos, who friends say was “an amazing person and soul,” disappeared nearly three months ago on March 6.
According to organizers, the candlelight vigil at Sleepy Dog Coffee Shop was a way for family, friends and concerned members of the public, to congregate and share stories of their lost loved one.
“What we’re doing here today is that we are showing solidarity in the community to let them know that we’re not going to be quiet," said longtime friend of Kronos, Catlin Mobley.
“We’re not going to be silenced and we’re going to continue this fight... and speaking as loudly as we can until we have not only answers, but justice for [Kronos] and get him home so we can find closure.”
Mobley, who said he’s desperate to find the man he calls a brother, said he also understands that the open case may not wrap up anytime soon.
“If any of you guys have followed anything like this before in the past, if you’re true crime addicts or anything like that, you know that [law enforcement] can’t just jump to conclusions and they have to cross all their T’s and dot all their I’s,” explained a frustrated Mobley.
“We do not want them to just rush into this as much as we would like justice. Right now, we need to make sure that the investigative teams from the FBI and APD and internal affairs and everything else, have absolutely everything they need to get a conviction because we don’t want any mishaps in the courtroom.
”We don’t want these guys to get off on a technicality. We want these bad apples taken out."
The Anchorage Police Department has set up a special tip line for Kronos. APD is asking to public to call 907-786-8999 with any information regarding the disappearance of Kronos, or report anonymously via Anchorage Crime Stoppers.
Another longtime friend of Kronos, Deedee Barnes, expressed her sadness at the vigil, describing what she’d say to him if they could speak...
"I would say I think about you every day," she said.
“I miss you giving me crap about my milestones or achievements and I miss you building me up, and I miss you calling to check on the kids every day.”
As the search for Kronos continues, family and friends hold out hope that he will return home safely.
