Slightly sunnier and warmer weather to kick off June across Alaska
ANCHORAGE, AK (Alaska’s News Source) - May is already coming to a close, and the climate numbers show pretty normal conditions from Anchorage to Fairbanks this month, but it’s a different story in Southeast.
This May was the wettest ever recorded in Ketchikan, with more than 25″ of rain. Juneau was also much wetter and cooler than normal.
Southeast will see one more day of significant rain before catching a bit of a break on Sunday, the first day of June.
Showers will linger across Southcentral and the Interior through early Saturday, but drier weather is likely through the afternoon. Anchorage can even expect mostly sunny skies the second half of Saturday through early Sunday.
Temperatures are holding below normal across much of the state, but by the end of next week, temperatures will likely be close to normal, if not above.
