FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTUU/KTVF) - The North Pole Patriots won their fifth straight Mid-Alaska Conference (MAC) Championship, defeating Monroe 15-0 on Saturday.

North Pole Pitcher Stephen Langer said this is the second time winning the MAC championship but never takes it for granted.

“Ever since I was young any championship I’d get, it was always special to me no matter where I was,” said Langer. “I was born in Missouri, down there was always special but up hear it feels the same, every championship every win, very special to me.”

North Pole Shortstop Caleb Korhonen who played for North Pole for four years, said it never gets old.

“Feels good, five times in a row,” said Korhonen. “Just enjoyed every single year gets better and better.”

North Pole Baseball Head Coach James Fischer said he saw something special in his team long before high school.

“We’ve been kind of building since I coached a lot of these kids since they were 9-10 years old,” said Fischer. “Just moved up with this huge core group that’s finally coming through, we have 9 seniors this year, and it’s been nothing but special all season watching these guys grow.”
